Jefferson County’s Moderate Risk Waste Facility will shut down Friday, Sept. 30, county officials announced Monday.
Jefferson County Solid Waste Manager Al Cairns said staffing shortages in the division has created a challenge to maintaining customer service at the facility.
That’s caused the cancellation of several days of operations in August and September.
After the Port Townsend facility is closed Sept. 30, the county will continue hosting collection events across the county and throughout the year.
Collection event dates and locations will be announced in the coming weeks.
