Six additional COVID-19 cases reported in Jefferson County Thursday

Six news cases of COVID-19 were confirmed Thursday in Jefferson County.

The new infections increased the cumulative number of coronavirus cases in Jefferson County to 508.

All of the new cases were found in mid-county residents; four females and two males.

Three of the infections were found in people under the age of 20. The other cases involved a person in their 30s, one in their 40s, and one in their 50s.

Test results are pending for four residents.

A total of 32 residents were still in isolation July 29 due to potential COVID-19 contact.

There have been 26,824 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 26,312 have resulted in negative results.

In Jefferson County, 449 people have recovered from COVID-19. 

A total of 37 residents have been hospitalized due to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.

People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.

Four deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19.
