East Jefferson Little League is conducting in-person sign-ups and tryouts this March for its spring season.
In-person registration is slated for 6-8 p.m., March 1 and 6, and 11 a.m.-2 p.m., March 3 and 10. Tryouts are scheduled for 10 a.m., Saturday-Sunday, March 17-18. Sign-ups and tryouts take place at the East Jefferson Little League Clubhouse, 80 Elkins Road in Port Hadlock.
All registered players are to be assigned to teams by March 18, to allow plenty of time for the opening-day ceremony jamboree, which is set for 6 p.m., Monday, April 9.
Kenny Yingling Jr., president of East Jefferson Little League, explained that the league is open to ages 4-14, and the tryouts would involve batting, throwing and running bases.
“Parents should expect two games a week and practice during the week, as well as weekend games,” said Yingling, who estimated the league draws between 140 and 180 players per season.
