Officers with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) responded to 330 calls for service during the week of May 15-22, 2017. Among the calls were 2 911 hang-ups, 15 animal complaints, 1 death investigation, 4 burglary investigations, 2 DUIs, 5 reports of harassment, 6 property damage reports, 8 patrol requests, 6 sex offense incidents, 17 suspicious persons, 3 suicidal persons and 60 traffic stops.

The following reports are a sampling of calls to which deputies responded.

An Irondale resident reported at 11:18 a.m., May 16 that their home may have been burglarized. When the resident pulled into the driveway of their home, they observed an adult male running from the yard. Deputies responded to the scene and found that a shed had been broken into. It appeared that the residence had not been entered. The case is under investigation.

A possible drug overdose was reported at 9:35 a.m., May 17. The reporting person stated that a woman was unconscious and her lips were turning blue. CPR was started, and when Port Ludlow Medics arrived on the scene, the victim had a pulse but was not breathing. The victim was revived, and medics determined it was a heroin overdose.

The Sheriff’s Office received a burglary report from the Brinnon area in which a homeowner returned home to find that a trailer door was open and the lights were on. Also, an outbuilding had been ransacked. Some tools and electronic equipment were reported missing May 17. The case is under investigation.

The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a personal bank check in the amount of $1,360 found in a book at the Jefferson County Library on May 19. A deputy recovered the check and contacted the account holder.

A deputy responded to the Second Street area of South Discovery Road at 5:13 p.m., May 20 after receiving a harassment complaint from a tenant who reported that their landlord was on a tractor and honking a loud bicycle horn in front of one of his tenants’ residences. The tenant also reported that they have had no water or power for the past two months. The deputy contacted the landlord and instructed him to stop honking the bicycle horn, but the landlord continued. The deputy had probable cause to believe the landlord was intoxicated, and the landlord was subsequently arrested for DUI and harassment.

A Port Hadlock resident called at 7:08 a.m., May 21 to report that their neighbor was using a weed eater. When the deputy arrived to investigate, the weed eater – and the person using it – were gone.
