R90 establishes consistent sexual health education for our children. From personal experience as a public health nurse and women’s health nurse practitioner in small rural communities I found that this subject was hit-or-miss depending on who happened to be teaching health. I was occasionally asked into the schools to teach about sexual health. But, many students never had any exposure to sexual health education.
Meanwhile as a medical provider it was revealed to me that many children experienced abuse, sometimes by older kids. This education gives kids the tools to get help sooner.
This is about prevention of disease, abuse, suicide and pregnancy. And, parents can always have their children opt out of the program.
