Senior Saturday serves 98 Volunteer Bob Wallace hands shopper Pierre Evans, 70, tomatoes at the Senior Saturday food bank on Jan. 31. A record 98 families were served that day. Shirley Moss, Port Townsend Food Bank executive director, assigned seniors a day of their own three years ago and that has helped relieve the long lines at the regular Wednesday food bank, where some 290 people were served Jan. 28. Nola Goodall, who runs the Saturday food bank, expects to open a half hour earlier (11:30 a.m.) beginning later this month and give people with wheelchairs and walkers a chance to go through first. For now, the Saturday food bank, housed in Mountain View Commons, is open noon-2 p.m. Saturdays for those 65 and older. Evans said the food bank is a blessing and he jokes with people as he goes through the line. "If it's weird, give it to Pierre," he says of saving odd-shaped fruits and vegetables for me
