Security training at Indian Island

Posted

PORT HADLOCK, Wash., - Naval Magazine Indian Island has a security training exercise scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2023.

Training activities will occur in Port Townsend Bay between the installation’s small boat pier and the ammunition loading pier’s security barrier. The exercise scenario will include harbor security boats on the water engaging in high-speed maneuvers with the use of blank ammunition, loud sirens, and bright blue flashing lights. Announcements will be broadcast from the base’s loudspeaker notification system.

Residents living in the communities surrounding Indian Island and installation personnel could notice increased noise levels and activities associated with training activities.

The Navy conducts these types of security exercises at installations across the world to ensure readiness and verify response procedures. NMII thanks the community for their continued support and understanding.
