The Port Townsend Sailing Association, in conjunction with the Northwest Maritime Center, recently hosted the 40th annual Classic Mariners Regatta on Port Townsend Bay.

Twenty boats participated in the two-day regatta which included two races on Saturday, June 3 and a longer Bay Tour Pursuit Race on Sunday, June 4.

Race organizers said Mother Nature provided ideal sailing conditions for the diverse fleet of sailboats, which spanned the gamut from the Haven 12-foot-5 Lazy Dog, to the 84-foot schooner Martha, built it 1907.

The event shared the beautiful conditions on the bay both days with the finishers of the 70-48 human-powered race as well as some Race to Alaska boats performing some final tuning.

The Port Townsend Sailing Association is a local nonprofit that promotes safe sailing, racing, and boating on Port Townsend Bay. For details, go to ptsail.org.
