Rosella M. Bates (Rosie) was born on April 5, 1933, in Orth Itasca, Minnesota to Harry Otto and Gladys (Olson) Otto. Rosella passed away peacefully from natural causes on October 23, 2023, at the Liberty Shore Assisted Living home in Poulsbo Washington surrounded by her granddaughters. She had a sister and 5 brothers which all preceded her in death. She attended Yelm High School until her senior year. Where she met the love of her life Robert E. Bates. He preceded her in death on August 31, 2023. They were married on June 24, 1950. They were married for 73 years. They had 5 children: Dennis, David, Diane, Darrell, and Darla. Darrel and Diane proceeded her in death. She was blessed with 9 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren. She supported her husband in every aspect of their life.  She took care of the household, kids, and any and all activities that the family did which gave her husband time to support the family and donate his time to many community activities. They built and owned the B&R Mobile Home Court in Hadlock, Washington for affordable family housing.  Rosella was also very passionate about family and the Seahawks. She likes to dance, travel, and socialize with everyone. She was truly an amazing woman, mother, friend, grandmother. She was a humble woman who appreciated everything people gave her especially if was handmade.  A memorial service will be announced sometime in April 2024. She and her husband‘s ashes will be placed next to each other in the Greenwood Cemetery at that time. In lieu of flowers, we ask that any donations be sent to Jefferson County Little League or Jefferson County Fair in her name. We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the Liberty Shore Assisted Living home and Kitsap Hospice team for their compassionate care during her final day.
