Rhody spirit, like the flower itself, is no fragile thing. The resilient nature of our celebratory community was on full display Saturday as our Cake Picnic crew toured Port Townsend. In a true test of character, our community responsibly stepped up to the Rhody Weekend moment and welcomed our Tyvek-suited team in our one-car parade of disco, cake and joy.
Witnessing the unabashed glee and welcoming cheer of the many residents partying safely in their front lawns is unforgettable. It makes all of us on the team, who all grew up here and continue to grow our lives here, so happy to create and share this moment with the town. May we all continue to take inspiration from the rhododendron, that hardy pink flower that blooms in the evergreens. There’s unexpected beauty to be found through the trees.
