In celebration of the inaugurations of President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris, a group of about 60 people gathered at Pope Marine Park in Port Townsend to cheer on the new administration during their first day in office.
Many of the supporters gathered at the park carried signs and voiced their sentiments of optimism as they looked to the future, following a deadly riot at the nation's capital that left five dead.
The supporters gathered at the park around noon for the demonstration to cheer passing cars, play music, wave flags and carry signs bearing messages like "thank you Georgia" and "everything is going to be alright."
"It looks like a good-sized crowd with a little over 50 people," said Port Townsend Police Chief Troy Surber at the gathering. "Everybody seems to be pretty excited about the inauguration."
"It's a good time to be in Port Townsend."
