Over the last two years I have had the rewarding experience of working closely with Greg Brotherton as he and other housing advocates offered a range of solutions to our affordable housing crisis.
Housing for the unsheltered in our community was, and remains, one of our greatest challenges. Greg’s support for Peter’s Place, the tiny shelters in Port Hadlock, and his advocacy for Caswell-Brown on Mill Road has been crucial in creating both of these projects.
While neither of these facilities solves the urgent need for affordable housing, they both offer temporary relief for many folks who have been living without shelter for far too long.
The next step in the process is creating enough affordable housing stock to provide permanent homes for everyone who lives and works here, and the interagency teamwork that Greg fosters is making progress on this front as well.
Jefferson County needs visionary leaders like Greg to move forward with the refinements in land use regulations and building codes that will encourage more affordable housing development while still retaining the rural qualities we all enjoy.
Please vote for Greg Brotherton for county commissioner. Our county’s future depends on his kind of courageous leadership.
