The city of Port Townsend’s municipal offices will be closed on Fridays, now on a permanent basis.
The Port Townsend City Council unanimously approved an ordinance in March, limiting municipal office hours to 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Monday to Thursday, and closing to the public on Fridays.
The city cited staffing constraints as the primary cause for the change.
While the city has been using the shortened hours since December 2022 as a pilot program to test the change, the four-day schedule is now permanent.
Emergency services, permit submittals, utility bill payment options, and other municipal functions will remain available on Fridays via the electronic portal at cityofpt.us.
