A rally in solidarity with global activities defunding oil pipelines and corporately owned private prison systems is set to take place noon-2:15 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11 at the triangle park on the corner of Sims Way and Kearney Street in Port Townsend.

A community portrait is set to be taken at 1 p.m., and the event includes speakers, information and songs, according a spokesperson for the group.

Local individuals have remained active in a “Move Your Money” movement, which gained national attention during resistance actions at Standing Rock, North Dakota, the spokesperson said.

More than 70 Jefferson County residents have traveled to North Dakota since August 2016 and have donated thousands of dollars, along with supplies. Another group is to be traveling to Standing Rock soon to assist with cleanup efforts prior to the spring thaw.
