Our beloved mother Rachel passed away from natural causes on Nov. 18, 2020. Her daughter Jackie and our family friend Cheri King were by her side. Rachel is predeceased by her parents, Elma Ruth Sloggett and Ira Henry Riggle; her brothers, Neil Kramer and Silas Riggle.

Rachel was born on July 26, 1933 in Rockford, Illinois. She married Richard Leland Monroe and then moved to Port Townsend where she raised her family. She worked at San Juan Grocery store and then worked for Jefferson General Hospital as their cook for many years, later retiring. She then continued to volunteer at the hospital as a P.S.A.

Rachel loved music and playing her accordion, piano and tambourine. She often played the piano for the Assembly of God church, now called New Life in Port Townsend. Rachel loved God, spending time with her family and traveling. She especially loved traveling to Victoria with her grandkids. She loved sharing the Bible with others and was often handing out tracks with her friends in town.

She is survived by her four children, Jackie Neet; Rick Monroe and wife Diane; Kathy Michelson and husband Kevin and Terri Monroe; and nephews nieces Ron Riggle, Don Riggle, Kit Kramer, Nancy Lagoyda, Bruce Kramer, and Scott Kramer; eight grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

Rachel hopes to see you all in Heaven someday:

John 3:16. For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him may not perish, but have Everlasting life.

Due to COVID-19, a private ceremony will be held with immediate family only.
