Sea-Tac League coaches met in Tacoma Feb. 20 to vote for their All-Star awards.
The Quilcene Lady Rangers girls’ basketball team, as a fifth-place overall seed, received two nominations.
Sophomore Abby Weller was awarded first team honors, and freshman Gina Brown received honorable mention.
“Abby Weller and Gina Brown are the hardest-working athletes on the Lady Rangers basketball team,” said their coach, Briana Weller. “They play ball year-round and have very realistic goals of playing at the next level. These young ladies lead by example and love to compete.”
Abby Weller’s stats for the season include 258 points, 130 rebounds, 61 assists, 71 steals and 29 blocks. “She is the floor general of the team and has been playing basketball year-round for the past two and a half years,” Briana Weller said. “She is all in, all the time, and loves to win.”
Brown’s stats for the season include 221 points, 231 rebounds, 27 assists and 32 steals.
“She had 6 double-doubles this season,” said Weller, who deemed Brown “a post player to be reckoned with, as she’s strong and gaining confidence in her skill sets. As an eighth-grader, she committed to growing her game year-round.”
