The Jefferson County Public Utility District has passed its sixth clean accountability audit in a row with the Washington State Auditor’s Office.

The state released its review of the utility authority on Jan. 30, and the accountability audit covered the period of Jan. 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2021.

No problems were noted in the state auditor’s office’s review.

“District operations complied, in all material respects, with applicable state laws, regulations, and its own policies, and provided adequate controls over the safeguarding of public resources,” the audit noted.

The audit reviewed areas of the PUD including: accounts receivable; accounts payable; ordering, receiving, and tracking of materials inventory; open public meetings and compliance; and financial condition, according to the audit results.

The utility district supplies water to approximately 4,500 customers on water systems throughout Jefferson County. The district also operates community septic systems and monitors alternative drain fields. The PUD also supplies electricity to approximately 19,950 customers throughout the county.

The utility authority comprises around
55 employees and operated on an annual budget of $40 million for the fiscal years of 2020 and 2021.
