Public sidewalks lead straight to socialism | Letter to the editor

As a local and respected conservative spokesperson I’ve been asked during this election season to remind everyone of the dangers of “Sidewalk Socialism.”

Right under our feet is this glaring example of the government providing free stuff for everyone. Where will it end? You don’t see the Trump Family using sidewalks! They know the evil of accepting government freebies. If Republicans stand for anything it is to get the government out from underfoot.

How come sidewalks are available to everyone no matter their race, religion or height? No means tests, no drug tests, no forms to fill out. All this nondiscrimination because of a creeping socialism wrecking our nation!

During the Trump administration Republicans have been encouraged to disparage veterans, the handicapped and anyone that went to college in a state different from theirs.

But conservatives are overlooking another real danger to our Republic.  Sidewalks are the Trojan Horse of Socialism. What does providing sidewalks teach our children? That the government wants you to walk safely out of the street? No! Sidewalks are a gateway drug to socialism. Sidewalks lead directly to libraries, schools and parks.

We conservatives know what a mistake free libraries and free education has turned out to be. Don’t get me started on all the great real estate that has gone to parks so even immigrant children can frolic unproductively.

I am asking all True Trumpsters to stay off the sidewalks until the election. Show your contempt for free stuff. No handouts for us! Stride boldly down the middle of the street to make your stand against socialism.
