The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Jefferson County rose to 274 Wednesday as Jefferson County public health officials reported a Port Townsend woman in her 40s had tested positive for the disease.

Four other cases were reported Tuesday; a south county woman in her 40s,  two Port Townsend men in their 40s, and a Port Townsend man in his 70s.

A total of 31 people in Jefferson County were still awaiting COVID-19 test results Wednesday.

Health officials said 12 people with COVID-19 remain in isolation. 

A total of 215 residents have recovered from COVID. According to the health department, 22 residents have been hospitalized after getting the coronavirus, and two deaths in Jefferson County have been attributed to the disease. 

Through Jan. 20, a total of 16,899 tests have been administered for the coronavirus since the start of the pandemic, and 16,594 tests have come back negative.

Through midweek, 124 COVID cases have been found in Port Townsend residents; 123 in mid-county residents; and 27 in south county (Quilcene, Brinnon, and West Jefferson).

More females than males have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic in Jefferson County; 141 females have been confirmed with the coronavirus, and 133 males.
