The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 161 calls between Friday, Aug. 12, and Thursday, Aug. 18. Below are selected reports.
At 9:50 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, in the 800 block of Scott Street, a homeowner reported a yard sale theft that occurred the day before.
The homeowner told law enforcement that they’d left items from their garage sale under a tarp in the front yard, and someone came by between 6 p.m. and 9 a.m. and stole a variety of items. The homeowner reported collectable dolls of Princess Diana and Liberace being taken, along with two tubs of jewelry, a teapot, and a metal detector.
The estimated value of the stolen items was $800. There is no suspect information at this time.
At 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, a resident in the 500 block of 23rd Street reported being threatened via text. An unknown person with a local number reportedly messaged the resident, telling them to “Watch your back.” The threat was documented by police and there is no suspect information at this time.
At 1 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14 in the 1200 block of Water Street, a caller reported a man outside yelling and screaming, but at nobody in particular.
The man moved to a nearby massage parlor and was yelling at passing motorists. The man then left toward downtown Port Townsend but was no longer yelling or causing a disturbance.
At 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, a passerby in the 400 block of Kearney Street reported seeing a man with what appeared to be a stolen bike.
They told police they saw a man on a bike carrying a child’s bike near Kah Tai Lagoon. Officers patrolled the area to look for the man, but were unable to locate him.
At 10:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15 in the 500 block of Sheridan Street, a caller reported a man in a black Jeep who was yelling at a woman.
The man was described as bald, and the woman as having dark hair. Officers arrived in the area but were unable to locate the man, woman, or black Jeep.
At 11:45 a.m. Monday, Aug. 15, a caller reported that she’d been assaulted by her daughter.
The assault had occurred a few days prior, and the woman was hospitalized after the physical attack. The assault was reported to police by the hospital.
At 1:45 p.m. Monday, Aug. 15, at Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park, a caller reported that the StoryWalk signs on one of the park’s trails had been damaged.
A local library employee reported that the signs had been burned by an unknown suspect, with a total of $50 in damages. The signs have since been replaced.
