The Port Townsend Police Department received 93 calls for service between Friday, Dec. 9 and Thursday, Dec. 15. Below are selected reports.

At 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, a caller in the 2500 block of West Sims Way said two men appeared to be using drugs outside a nearby building. An uncapped syringe with suspected drugs inside was left at the scene, and the caller said the men come to the building every day to charge their phones. Officers checked the area but didn’t locate the men or the syringe.

At 4:35 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 10, in the 2500 block of Evans Vista, it was reported that someone was shooting a gun or shooting off fireworks near the homeless camp in the area.

The reporting party was driving by and only heard the noise but didn’t see anyone.

Officers located the sound of the noise; a man cracking a bull whip. Officers had contacted the man previously, and he uses the whip to help calm his mind and deal with anger management. Several people were in the area, and there were no signs that any of them were in danger or having any conflicts, and the officers left.

At 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, a resident in the 500 block of Adams Street reported suspicious activity outside their home while they were away.

The resident told law enforcement that a bush had been damaged and the side mirrors of all their vehicles had been rearranged in strange placements. No actual damage had been done to any vehicles, and the bush could have been damaged from a recent winter storm.

The resident said the incident likely occurred between Dec. 7 and Dec. 12.

At 2:50 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, a theft was reported in the 1900 block of Sheridan Street after someone siphoned two gallons of gas from a car. Around $10 worth of gas was stolen from a 1999 Chevrolet passenger van. The Chevy owner didn’t witness the theft, but had a possible suspect in mind.

At 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14 in the 2200 block of Washington Street, a woman reported being harassed by an ex.

She told law enforcement that the ex had sent her multiple texts and was bothering her in public. The ex is a man from Seattle who has a boat dry-docked in town.

She said that they had been in a relationship for a month and she’d broke up with him recently. She’d told him she didn’t want any trouble, but he needed to stop pursuing her. He’d been blocked on social media and officers advised the woman to seek a no-contact order from the courts. She was provided a case number.

At 7 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 15, a resident in the 1900 block of 31st Street reported suspicious activity near their home. The resident said they’d seen lights and activity near a neighbor’s home for the past 30 minutes and suspected someone was prowling the house. An officer checked out the area, and nothing was found.
