The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 153 calls between Friday, Jan. 27, and Thursday, Feb. 2. Below are selected reports.

At 9 a.m. Friday, Jan. 27 in the 600 block of Hudson Place, a neighbor reported a copper theft at his home.

The neighbor told police he estimated around $3,000 worth of copper was stolen the day before, with the suspects taking copper left on the property from ongoing roof work. Officers observed the location of the theft, estimating that around $500 worth of copper was taken, and the neighbor said he would check with neighbors for potential camera footage of the suspects.

At 12:45 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, malicious mischief was reported in the the 1700 block of 10th Street after a caller informed police that her windshield wiper had been cut the night before. The caller didn’t have any leads on potential suspects and the cost of the damage was unknown.

At 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, five fir trees were reported stolen in the 1600 block of West Sims Way. The resident also noted the fence on the property had been damaged from the theft, with the fence damage estimated at $600. The five fir trees were saplings wrapped in burlap and valued at $37 total. No suspect information or video evidence was available. 

At 5:45 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, police received a noise complaint in the 1200 block of Landes Street.

The resident said his upstairs neighbor was making loud noises. The resident said the neighbor was making so much noise that it knocked pictures off of his wall and scared him.

At 3:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, a theft occurred in the 900 block of Lawrence Street when a man and woman took items from a nearby grocery store.

The man was described as having curly, reddish-brown hair and the woman had blonde hair and appeared to be in her 20s. Both were carrying tote bags, and store employees observed them taking a portable charger, eventually confronting the two. The man and woman denied stealing anything and walked out of the business. Officers arrived at the store, but the two were gone. The business manager asked police to trespass the man and woman and cite them for theft if officers located the two in the future.

At 5:50 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 28 at 19th and Geis streets, an erratic driver was reported.

The driver, riding a motorcycle, failed to yield and was passing cars at a high rate of speed on 19th Street. Officers stopped the driver and cited the driver for reckless driving and expired tags. 

At 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, a caller reported seeing two men drinking at a private beach in the 4100 block of Washington Street. The caller said the two men were yelling at neighbors as well.

Officers contacted the two, who had open beer cans in hand. The men were advised to leave the private beach, and they obliged.
