The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 144 calls between Friday, March 31, and Thursday, April 6. Below are selected reports.

At 10 a.m. Sunday, April 2, a man in the 400 block of West Sims Way was seen shoplifting at the nearby grocery store and leaving on foot. He was wearing black pants, a dark jacket, and a Seahawks beanie.

The man was headed to the nearby bus stop when officers contacted him. He was uncooperative but eventually turned over the stolen goods. He was cited and released for third-degree theft and handed a trespass admonishment.

The man stole approximately $213 in goods.

At 4:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Kah Tai Lagoon Nature Park, a woman informed police that she’d been harassed while walking through the park. A man in a tent started yelling at her. He was in his 40s with long, dark hair and clean shaven. An officer searched but couldn’t locate the man.

At 10 a.m. Monday, April 3, harassment was reported in the 1000 block of 20th Street between a man and a woman.

The man shared an email with law enforcement that documented his concern for being harassed by the woman.

The woman accused the man of being a bully and a pervert, along with other things.

The man felt like he was being harassed and said he’d provide further evidence of the woman going after him. The officers recommended the man get an anti-harassment order from court.

At 2:30 p.m. Monday, April 3,
in the 2100 block of West Sims Way, a case of malicious mischief was reported after a woman’s car tires were slashed. The incident occurred on April 1, and the woman said she had a suspect.

She said she recently rejected the physical advances of a man and he’d left very frustrated.

When she returned to the location, her tires had been slashed. Officers are attempting to collect video evidence for the investigation.

At 3:30 p.m. Monday, April 3, a disturbance occurred at the Haller Fountain on Washington and Taylor streets.

A caller said a “crazy person” was making threats near the local landmark, and he was described as a male in his 30s with brown hair and sunglasses. Officers were unable to locate the man.

At 4:15 p.m. Monday, April 3, a man in the 400 block of Benedict Street was reported for littering on the roadway.

A passerby observed a man in an RV dumping garbage on the roadway.

Officers located the man in the RV, who appeared to be cleaning up the garbage. The man told the officers he was moving the vehicle and his trash can fell off, and he was trying to clean it all up. No crimes occurred and the officers left.
