At 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, an auto theft was reported in the 1800 block of Water Street after the owner of a 2003 Jaguar, gold in color, reported the vehicle being taken from a nearby parking lot. The owner had left the keys in the car prior to it being stolen. A stolen vehicle report was taken and the Washington State Patrol was advised.

At 2:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 2, at the Tyler and Water streets intersection, a parking complaint was made after a caller noted a large, red Mercedes Sprinter van protruding onto the roadway. The van was legally parked, but slightly sticking out due to a poor parking job. No action was taken by police considering other vehicles were able to pass by.

At 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, suspicious activity was reported at the Howard Street and Discovery Road intersection after a resident reported someone in an SUV dropping off a large load of trash in the area. A short time later, a green SUV stopped there and somebody started picking up the trash. The only items left over when police arrived were a small table and another box.

At 6:15 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 3, a resident in the 300 block of Discovery Road reported receiving threatening texts from an Arizona phone number. The resident was being extorted after the person said they had compromising videos and photos of the resident, and wanted $2,000 to not send the images and videos to the resident’s friends and family members.

The resident offered to send $300, and after visiting the bank, was told to file a police report. The resident informed their friends and family that they were being extorted.

At 9 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, a domestic dispute was reported after the reporting party saw a man and woman fighting. The man left the area in a black vehicle, and the woman kicked the car before continuing down the street on foot. She was wearing a red hoodie, black pants, had blonde hair, and appeared to be crying. Officers searched the area for both the man and woman, but were unable to locate either person.

At 9:15 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, in the 100 block of Mill Road, a homeless man was upset over his tent being moved. The man appeared to be dealing with a health crisis, and made multiple suicidal comments. Officers deescalated the situation and the man calmed down. Officers noted that the man’s dog was able to help him calm down. The officers will continue to monitor the man and his situation.

At 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, an assault was reported between two intoxicated men in the 200 block of Monroe Street after one of them became belligerent and provoked the other man.

The belligerent man attacked the other man, and was arrested for fourth-degree assault. He was also given a one-year trespass admonishment.

At 2:50 a.m. Monday, Dec. 5, suspicious activity was reported in the 2000 block of 14th Street after a resident heard a man say “Hey” in the backyard. The resident’s house was locked and the porch lights were on, but no one was seen outside. An officer searched the area and didn’t find anybody.

At 12 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, in the 1300 block of First Street, someone had broken into a vacant home recently. It appeared the thief had made entry through the back door and had searched the entire house. A purse and other items were missing, and the burglary had likely occurred over the weekend.
