The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 139 calls between Friday, Aug. 19, and Thursday, Aug. 25. Below are selected reports.

At 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, a drunk driver near the Sims Way and Rainier Street roundabout had a vehicle collision with a motorcycle.

Officers arrived at the crash and took notes, noticing that one of the drivers appeared to be intoxicated. The driver was later taken into custody for DUI.

At 10:40 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, in the 500 block of Washington Street, loud music was reported near Memorial Athletic Field.

Police were told it sounded like a movie, and officers confirmed that a permitted movie event was going on.

The event wrapped up shortly after and the audio equipment was packed up.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the 1700 block of Tyler Street, a resident reported an ongoing issue with loud, barking dogs nearby. The pets were inside but the doors were left open, and the resident thought that the dogs might be in distress.

Officers were advised by the resident that the dogs and owner had left.

At 1:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, a caller near the Washington and Taylor streets intersection reported a couple arguing near the Haller Fountain.

The called added that the dispute seemed to be verbal-only but was disturbing people passing by.

Officers found the couple yelling at their dog. After speaking with them, officers discovered the couple were transient and living near the bushes above the fountain.

The two told the officers that they were yelling at their dog and not each other. There were no signs of physical abuse or threats of violence, but police warned the two to reel in their yelling.

At 2:35 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, a man near the Washington and Adams streets intersection was reportedly yelling and screaming about pirates.

An officer saw the man walking on Washington Street and talking to himself. He wasn’t going into traffic and didn’t appear to be yelling at anyone in particular, and even gave a friendly wave and smile to the officer as he drove by. No crimes had been committed and the officer moved along.

At 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, a theft was reported in the 100 block of Seton Road by a homeowner.

The homeowner said the theft probably occurred sometime the night prior after 8 p.m. The suspect went through the resident’s sliding door and stole two chainsaws and a Dewalt saw.

At 6:40 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, in the 1300 block of Water Street, a called reported seeing a bicyclist screaming profanities at people.

The bike rider, a man wearing a beanie and blue jeans, was seen yelling at almost everyone he passed by.

An officer observed him riding in and out of traffic and screaming at patrons at a local eatery. The officer attempted to stop the bicyclist multiple times, but he kept going.

The officer later encountered him at a nearby grocery store and arrested the man.

Before being arrested by the police, the man spit on one of the officers. He was transported to jail.
