The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 161 calls for service between
July 8 and July 14. Below are selected reports.

At 9:46 a.m. Saturday, July 8 in the 2200 block of Towne Point Avenue, a suspect was reported banging a cane against someone’s electrical box. Officers contacted the subject and determined the person was suffering from mental health issues. No damage occurred.

At 9:37 a.m. Sunday, July 9, a theft was reported in the 100 block of Tyler Street. Two nights prior, the reporting party left a bag of belongings on a table, then went swimming. When the person returned Sunday morning, a wallet was missing from the bag. Officers are investigating.

At 2:17 p.m. Monday, July 10 in the 400 block of Water Street, a person who had previous encounters with law enforcement was reported yelling at an older man and others as they walked by. Officers contacted the subject, who eventually calmed down. No crime occurred.

At 1:44 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, a report was called in about a man who was walking into traffic in the 600 block of West Sims Way. When officers contacted the man, he declined offers for assistance or a ride.

At 4:19 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, a person was bitten by a pet after letting the dog walk off-leash on Rainier Street off of Discovery Road. The dog started a fight with another dog, and the person was bitten while trying to separate the animals.

At 1:09 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, two men were involved in a physical fight in the 400 block of 12th Street. One of the subjects, familiar to law enforcement, was arrested for second-degree assault and disorderly conduct.

At 7:42 p.m. Thursday, July 14 in the 200 block of Monroe Street, a subject with an out-of-county felony warrant threatened to “roast the cop who harassed him.” When the man was contacted by officers, he stated he wanted to shoot the officer. He was arrested for felony harassment.
