The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 144 calls between Friday,
March 31, and Thursday, April 6. Below are selected reports.

At 9 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, in the 2600 block of East Sims Way, a man was reported after taking two wine bottles without paying.

Officers located the man at a bus stop and detained him. He was cited for third-degree theft and the wine was returned to the business. At the man’s request, he was transported to a treatment center.

At 10:20 a.m. Tuesday, April 4, a dirt bike rider was reported for malicious mischief in the 1900 block of Blaine Street. Dirt bike tracks were seen all over the golf course, with tire tracks throughout the greens and bunkers on holes 1, 2, 3, and 8. 

At 12:25 p.m. Wednesday,
April 5, on Garfield and Tyler streets, a suspicious woman was reported. A caller saw her wriggling home doorknobs along the streets. She was wearing a black sweatshirt, in her 20s, and had dark hair.

Officers were unable to locate the woman.

At 5:40 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, two rogue horses were spotted in the 600 block of 55th Street.

The two equines were seen grazing in a grassy area and didn’t have saddles or harnesses. Officers located the horses and advised their owners to grab their steeds, and to call back if they have trouble corralling the animals.

At 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, April 5, suspicious activity was reported in the 2000 block of Victoria Avenue after a resident heard something hit her roof. The noise alerted her dogs, and after searching the outside, officers located an injured raccoon. It was on the top of the roof and appeared to have an injured back right leg. The officers notified the state Department of Fish and Wildlife.

At 1:35 a.m. Thursday, April 6, in the 1300 block of Cleveland Street, suspicious activity was reported. A caller heard what sounded like three strangers in her backyard. Officers searched the area and didn’t find anyone. The caller contacted police again and said that she might be imagining things but heard the sounds again and couldn’t tell if people were outside. The officers returned and didn’t find anyone.

At 9:30 p.m. Thursday, April 6, a witness in the 800 block of Water Street observed a man take a four-wheel wagon and use it to steal an iron bench.

The bench belonged to an apartment complex in the area and the suspect was described as being in his 20s or 30s with brown hair. Officers were unable to locate the man.
