The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 165 calls between Friday, March 17, and Thursday, March 23. Below are selected reports.

At 1:35 p.m. Monday, March 20, a parking complaint was made at the 12th Street and East Sims Way intersection regarding a run-down RV parked nearby.

The reporting party complained about the RV, saying it was blocking the sidewalk and part of the roadway. Officers contacted the RV’s owner, who said he was working to get the vehicle towed to a new location. It appeared two people were living in the RV.

The officers red-tagged the vehicle for 24-hour removal if the owner didn’t move it in time.

At 8:50 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, malicious mischief was reported in the 400 block of 26th Street after an RV owner told police that their landlord ripped out their Wi-Fi device.

The officers contacted the RV owner to take a report, and the owner also informed the officers that someone had shot three holes in the owner’s window. Upon further examination, officers located three metal pellets from a slingshot. Police are aware of the slingshot suspect. The officers collected the metal pellets and took photos of the window damage.

At 7:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, harassment was reported in the 1700 block of Tyler Street regarding a neighbor dispute. Two neighbors were in a verbal altercation about a dog, and officers contacted the reporting party.

She said her neighbor screamed at her dog and her, telling her to “shut her [expletive] dog up.”

The woman felt like she was being harassed. The officers advised her to get an anti-harassment order against the neighbor and provided her with a case number. The neighbor was advised to make a noise complaint if the dog’s barking continues. No crime occurred and law enforcement left.

At 8:43 a.m. Tuesday, March 21, in the 600 block of Water Street, a burglary was reported at a downtown business. The front door and a window had been smashed overnight, and the intruder broke open a glass case with golden jewelry and fled.

The owner said the doors were locked. As seen on security footage, the suspect broke in around
3:45 a.m. and took multiple jewelry items.

Officers pulled video footage from the store and other nearby businesses, along with taking multiple photos of the damage. The crime is under investigation.

At 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 21, a tenant in the
100 block of Taylor Street said he was being harassed by an upstairs neighbor.

He said the neighbor kept dropping things on the floor and making noises to harass and annoy him. He added that he thought the neighbor was drinking whiskey as well.

Officers arrived and spoke to the tenant. The upstairs neighbor had been arrested earlier for a prior crime, meaning nobody was upstairs at the time or earlier in the day. The officers left.
