The Port Townsend Police Department received a total of 169 calls between Friday, Jan. 20, and Thursday, Jan. 26. Below are selected reports.

At 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, disorderly conduct was reported in the 2600 block of East Sims Way after a man was observed harassing customers at a business in the area.

Officers arrived at the store, but the man had already left.

After reviewing store video, police identified the man, also noting that he’d stolen a lighter and other items from the business while he was there. Later the same day, officers located the man and issued a trespass admonishment from the business.

At 10:40 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 24, in the 600 block of Water Street, an assault was reported at a downtown bar.

Bar employees said a customer assaulted one of the bartenders, hitting him with a closed fist.

The customer was a tall man wearing a black sweatshirt and had two other friends with him at the bar. The man and his friends got into a large work truck after the assault and left the scene.

Officers located the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

All three men were cooperative, and the man who assaulted the bartender was taken into custody.

He was extremely intoxicated and was placed under arrest for fourth-degree assault. Due to the man’s inebriated condition, he was taken to the hospital for an evaluation and clearance prior to being booked into jail. The man threw up in the emergency room and was eventually booked into jail.

At 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, a disturbance was reported in the 400 block of Kearney Street after a customer at a grocery store was scaring customers and yelling.

Officers spoke to the man, informing him that he’d already been trespassed from the store at an earlier date. No crime had been committed at the time, and both parties left the scene.

At 5:50 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 25, on Thomas Street, a business owner informed law enforcement of suspicious activity.

The owner noticed people behind the business via camera footage and took photos.

Officers checked the property, and didn’t find anyone there at the time. Nothing appeared to be damaged or stolen.

At 10:40 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, suspicious activity was reported in the 3900 block of San Juan Avenue, with a caller reporting a suspicious vehicle driving around the middle school. The car was a lime-green convertible, and the driver had looped around the school parking lot multiple times throughout the day.

The caller was concerned about a potential child predator, and police conducted increased patrols in the area.

At 1:45 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26, an auto theft occurred in the 1600 block of 21st Street after a man told police he allowed a friend to borrow his 1999 Honda Accord and it was never returned.

The man believes the friend took the Honda to Kitsap County, and that it might be in Poulsbo.

The man was advised to contact the Poulsbo Police Department to check on the friend and look for the car.
