The Port Townsend City Council unanimously approved a resolution for a bike path project on Discovery Road from Grant Street to Sheridan Street.
The primary objective of the plan is to improve bicycle and pedestrian safety around the Sheridan and 19th streets intersection during school transition hours, as well as improving overall safety of the intersection, according to city documents.
The mini project is a portion of the city’s Discovery Road project to establish a bike path along the roadway. The majority of the plan’s funding will come from grant funds, and the city is expected to kick in $15,000.
The city expects to finish design blueprints for the bike path this year, then begin construction in 2024.
