Port Hadlock man killed in March 19 wreck

Crash happened near Bremerton

Danny T. Hampton, 55, of Port Hadlock, was killed the morning of March 19 while riding a motorcycle near Bremerton, according to Washington State Patrol. At about 6:47 a.m., Hampton drove a blue 2001 Kawasaki ZG1000 motorcycle into the side of a gray 2004 Chevy Silverado pickup truck driven by Brandon R. McKenney, 37, of Belfair, according to WSP. The truck was turning left from State Route 3 onto Division Avenue, located about three miles south of Bremerton. McKenney was cited for failure to yield, according to WSP. Hampton was wearing a helmet at the time of the collision, and neither driver was suspected of being under the influence of drugs or alcohol, according to WSP. The motorcycle was totaled and towed from the scene. The roadway was fully blocked for about 2.5 hours as WSP troopers investigated the incident. McKenney was not injured and was able to drive his truck from the scene. Hampton's kin have been notified of his death by WSP.
