I had to smile at the letter about patching the holes at Fort Townsend by a letter writer from Port Townsend (Leader, May 22).
I understand his feelings, but I think he should be more interested in patching the holes in Port Townsend streets. It’s bad enough that Lawrence Street looks like a wagon trail. The side streets aren’t as good as a cattle trail. I doubt if some of the streets haven’t been repaired since the ‘50s or ‘60s.
Additionally, the patch should be level with the existing street, not a couple of inches above or below the existing street.
