Painter, jeweler earn recognition from Port Ludlow Art League

Posted

The Port Ludlow Art League has named its Artist of the Month and Jeweler of the Month for March.

Ann Arscott is the league’s Artist of the Month. Her artwork embraces oils, pastels, and watercolors that portray the beauty of nature and Chinese brush paintings of flowers, animals, and landscapes on silk and paper.

Arscott’s love of Chinese brush painting led her to study at the China Institute in New York. Her award-winning work has appeared in galleries in New York, New Jersey, and Japan, as well as here in Washington state.

Janice Gruber has been recognized as the Jeweler of the Month.

As an artist since 1985 and the manager of the Port Ludlow Art League Gallery, Gruber’s artwork encompasses a wide range of media, including jewelry. Her jewelry is much more than metals and stones, as she enjoys incorporating wood, glass, shells, pearls, and fabric into her pieces.

Artworks from Arscott can be viewed at Sound Community Bank in Port Ludlow and online at portludlowart.org.

An artist reception for Arscott has been set for 4 to 5 p.m., Wednesday, March 8 in the lobby of the bank (located at the corner of Oak Bay Road and Osprey Ridge Drive) and from 5 to 6 p.m. March 8 at the Port Ludlow Art League Gallery next door.

Gruber’s jewelry designs will also be on display this month at the Port Ludlow Art Gallery and at Sound Community Bank. Her jewelry can also viewed online at portludlowart.org.
