Lovie Irene McCollum died peacefully in her sleep Apr. 1, 2017. She was born in 1924, and grew up with one sister in Huntington Beach, California. She married Bob McCollum while she was still in high school during the outbreak of World War II.

Two daughters later, she and Bob divorced and both remarried. Lovie Irene married Arthur Carmichael,and had two sons. Art died at age 36 leaving Lovie a widow. She later married Chuck Sheppard, who also died, leaving her a widow for the second time.

Bob and Lovie remarried in 1993. They spent their last 16 years together in Port Townsend, Washington. Bob died in 2016 while Lovie was being cared for at San Juan Villa Dementia Care.

We are exceptionally fortunate to have San Juan Villa in our community. Lovie’s family thanks all the wonderful people at the Villa for their tender and joyful care of her tover he last few years and Hospice for her last weeks of extended care.

Lovie Irene found joy over her lifetime through sister, Betty Anderson, daughters Penny Fahy and Pam (John) McCollum Clise, sons Ronald (Roxana) Carmichael, and Steven (Debby) Carmichael. She also had the pleasure of seeing in nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild to her family. She was well loved.
