Northwind Art launches Einstein-inspired exhibit

Few figures throughout history have left such a mark as the eccentric intellectual Albert Einstein.

Beyond the German genius’ foundational role in modern science and mathematics, he was also responsible for a multitude of inspiring quotes.

Finding creativity from Einstein’s famed quote — “Live life to the fullest. You have to color outside the lines once in a while if you want to make your life a masterpiece” — 21 local and regional artists from the nonprofit’s 2022 Artist Showcase were prompted by Northwind to form artwork from Einstein’s message.

Now, folks can experience that inspiration firsthand by visiting Northwind’s Jeanette Best Gallery on Water Street and admiring the original creations of the artists in “Color Outside the Lines.”

“It’s interesting to see the many different styles of work,” said Ken Hulick, showcase gallery manager for Northwind Art. “Many of the Showcase Artists really broke out of a box and created new and different or unusual work.”

Utilizing the quote prompt, many of the artists were inspired to go outside their comfort zones and pursue risky or challenging ideas in their work.

The Artist Showcase Gallery brings curated works of premier artists in the region and is refreshed regularly throughout the year. Artists include: Vivian Chesterley, Larry Crockett, Stephen Deligan, Jeanne Edwards, James Ferrara, Brian Goodman, Joyce Hester, Francesca Campbell Hulick, Roberta Krause, Aliina Lahti, Donna LaHue, Wanda Mawhinney, Evan Miller, Jacki Moseley, David Noble, Sandra Offutt, Elizabeth Reutlinger, Egor Shokoladov, Kim Simonelli, Jolene Sunding, and Linda Tilley.
