On the evening of Saturday, Dec. 2, at approximately 4:15 p.m., a small single-engine plane had an emergency while attempting to land at Jefferson International Airport.
The front landing gear malfunctioned, causing the plane to skid on its nose.
East Jefferson Fire Rescue responded to the scene with “a full response,” including fire engines, an ambulance and Battalion Chief Chris Kauzlarich, who stated, “Two occupants and a dog were on board, but not injured. The runway was closed for about half an hour, while crews cleared the aircraft from the runway.”
The Federal Aviation Administration, the National Transportation Safety Board and the Port of Port Townsend were notified.
