Nine new COVID-19 infections found in Jefferson County

Nine more residents have tested positive for COVID-19, Jefferson County health officials reported Thursday.

The new cases pushed the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Jefferson County to 573.

Positive COVID test results were reported across the county; four in Port Townsend, four in the mid-county area, and one in south county.

Three of the new infections involved females; the other six involved males.

Two residents under the age of 20 were infected, along with one resident in their 20s, three residents in their 30s, and two residents in their 40s, and one in their 50s.

A total of 38 residents were still in isolation Thursday due to potential COVID-19 contact.

Six test results are still pending, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

There have been 27,643 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 27,064 have resulted in negative results.

New test results from 44 residents were received Thursday.

In Jefferson County, 466 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 40 people have been hospitalized for the disease. (People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.)

Four deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
