Nine new COVID-19 infections found in Jefferson County

Nine new cases of COVID-19 in Jefferson County were confirmed Thursday.

The new cases pushed the total number of confirmed coronavirus infections in Jefferson County to 534 Thursday.

Two of the newly infected residents have been hospitalized, according to Jefferson County Public Health.

Positive COVID test results came from across the county; two in Port Townsend, four in the mid-county area, one in south county, and two in west county.

Seven of the new infections involved females; the other two, males.

Three residents under the age of 20 were infected, along with three residents in their 30s, two residents in their 50s, and one resident in their 60s.

A total of 32 residents were still in isolation Thursday due to potential COVID-19 contact.

Test results are pending for another four residents.

There have been 27,214 tests for COVID-19 in Jefferson County since the start of the pandemic, and 26,676 have resulted in negative results.

In Jefferson County, 458 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 40 people have been hospitalized for the disease. (People are considered "recovered" at 28 days from the onset of symptoms if they are alive and not hospitalized, according to the state Department of Health.)

Four deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic.
