Enjoy woodworking with Kimberly Winkle and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking during the next installment in Jefferson County Historical Society’s First Friday Speaker Series.

A series that spotlights craftspeople throughout the county, First Fridays aim to celebrate the art of making and to honor mediums of all kinds.

Starting at 7 p.m. Friday, July 2, nationally recognized artist Kimberly Winkle and the Port Townsend School of Woodworking will take participants into the fine arts side of woodworking.

Winkle will share her story, creative process, and some of her crafting techniques during the event. Displaying a balance of form, color and surface pattern, she creates furniture and objects using wood and paint.

Winkle is currently a professor of art and director of the School of Art, Craft & Design at Tennessee Technological University. She has exhibited nationally and internationally and her work has been included in a number of publications.

The event aims to inspire creativity and showcase new ways of making for casual artists and professional woodworkers alike.

The event will be held via Zoom. To register or purchase a series pass, visit jchsmuseum.simpletix.com.
