In its 51st year of dance instruction, the O'Meara Dance Studio is heading in new directions. Now known as the O'Meara Performing Arts Academy (OPAA), the longtime Uptown Port Townsend dance studio is offering two new classes and some new instructors in 2015-16.
Instructors are Erin O'Meara, artistic director, and Nan Dumond, Emri Kilham, Galadriel Nichols, Jaylin Slagle, Becca Spencer, Stevi Teagarden, Tomoki Sage and Peggy Tonan. New class offerings this year are acrobaticalist ninja theater (for all ages) taught by Tomoki Sage (of Nanda), and jazz/funk (for teens) taught by O'Meara and Slagle.
The classes now run in six-week sessions followed by a two-week break through the school year. Classes, for ages 3 through adult, begin Monday, Sept. 14 and registration is 4-7 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 10 at OPAA, 1110 Lawrence St., upstairs from the Uptown Theater.
