A new case of COVID-19 in Jefferson County was reported Friday by public health officials.

The new infection involved a Port Townsend resident.

No other details of the new COVID case was provided, as Jefferson County Public Health has ceased providing details on individual cases due to staffing issues.

The total number of coronavirus cases in Jefferson County was 315 Friday.

Health officials also adjusted the statistics of local residents who have been infected.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 cases in the mid-county area was adjusted to 139 from the 140 reported Thursday.

The number of infections for people in their 50s was also reduced from Thursday's count of 36, to 35 on Friday.

The number of cases for people in their 20s was also changed, from 31 reported Thursday to 32 on Friday.

Also, the number of infections of people under 20 was increased to 62 from 61.

Jefferson County health officials reported Friday that 21 people remain in isolation due to the coronavirus. The results of 22 new COVID tests were reported by the county Friday.

So far, the results of 17,945 tests have been given, and negative results have come back from 17,616 tests.

Fourteen residents are still awaiting test results.

In Jefferson County, 264 people have recovered from COVID-19 and 23 people have been hospitalized for the disease. Two deaths of Jefferson County residents have been linked to COVID-19.
