Born in Smartsville CA, she was one of ten children born to Asa and Emma (Wheaton) Fippin. She married JessT. Mickelson in Grass Valley CA together they had 6 sons. Her beloved Jess passed away with cancer. She then married Merl Driggs, adding 2 step-children. The family moved to a ranch in Montana, where they had twin girls, and a son for a total of 11 children. After Merl passed away she married Charles Dalziel in Sedro-Woolley WA.
She is survived by her sons Brent (Janet) Mickelson Missoula MT, Glen (Linda) Mickelson Salt Lake City UT, Terry Mickelson Fort Mohave AZ, Jim (Vickie) Mickelson Missoula MT, Jess (Sue) Mickelson Ketchikan AK, daughters Cathleen Brown Puyallup WA, Colleen (David) Hodgin Chimacum WA, daughters-in-law Karin Mickelson Cottonwood AZ, Jane Driggs El Cajon CA; 39 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Pretty good for a woman who was told she would never have children.
She loved family get-togethers, cooking and made literally thousands of loaves of bread. She enjoyed hearing about the activities of those she loved, crossword puzzles, church, fishing, singing, canning, genealogy and calligraphy. She never gave into difficult circumstances, just got right to work doing what she could to raise her family. She loved nature especially animals. She thought this world was breath-taking. She took great joy in recording it and we teased her about her numerous "earthquake" videos. She touched the hearts of many in her 97 years and is greatly missed.
Preceded in death by: her parents; 9 siblings; 3 husbands; daughter Donna Wilson, sons: Donald Driggs, Virgil Mickelson, Merl Driggs II, daughters-in-law Debbie Mickelson, Connie Mickelson; grandchildren: Betty Wilson, Thomas Wilson and Aaron Driggs.
Special thanks to her caregivers at Life Care Center. She encouraged others with her grateful heart, smile and singing.
