At 12:45 p.m. on Saturday, April 25, the Brinnon Fire Department responded to a motorcycle accident at McDonald Cove in the hairpin curve.
Of the two riders on the bike, the male driver in his 60s suffered chest injuries and was flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, while the female passenger was uninjured.
The highway was closed for approximately 20 minutes, while crews treated the patient for transport to the landing zone, after which the highway was opened to alternating traffic.
At approximately 3 p.m., the Washington State Patrol had both lanes open.
Brinnon Fire Chief Tim Manly used the fire department's Facebook page to issue "a special thank-you" to Mason County Fire District 17 and Quilcene Fire Rescue for their assistance.
