“Navigating the Teen Years with Mindful Self-compassion,” a free talk for parents and youths ages 9-18 is set for 7-8 p.m., Saturday, March 18 at the Friends Meetinghouse, 1847 Sheridan.

The event is hosted by The Benji Project and sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare. Presenters include Lorraine Hobbs, director of family programs at University of California San Diego’s Center for Mindfulness and co-creator of the “Making Friends with Yourself” teen program, which The Benji Project is working to establish in Port Townsend. In addition, Tim Burnett, executive director of Mindfulness Northwest, is featured.

Presenters are to discuss reducing stress and tools for challenging times in adolescence.

Hobbs and Burnett are also to teach a weekend workshop for adults on core skills of mindful self-compassion, March 18-19. To register or for more information, visit thebenjiproject.org.
