Worried about Port Townsend’s technocratic slide into real estate agent Sunset Magazine oblivion? So too is Monica MickHager, and if I could afford to live in town, she would have my vote.
When Monica’s son, Joe, and I used to carouse around PT on our bikes as 10 year olds, we would make the rounds from Hippy Hollow, Morgan Hill, and Castle Hill, to the developments off Cook St. finding pockets of kids along the way. Since then, save for Castle Hill, it’s all but been buttoned up.
If you want a person who will fight for families, stand up to NIMBYers, and offer clear direction to city professional staff - well - Monica has both the experience in town to know it hasn’t always been this way, and the guts to fight for a better tomorrow.
