Kaden Faller, in the fourth grade at Brinnon Elementary School, marched in the Brinnon Loyalty Day Parade April 28. Brinnon Loyalty Day is sponsored by the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10706 with support from the Brinnon Booster Club.
Students from Quilcene Elementary honored veterans at Brinnon Loyalty Day, including third-graders (from left) Liam Neziri, Kaylee Martin, Kayden Lont, Jacob Tirao and Benjermen Beck. Led by teacher Cortney Beck, the students performed a skit recognizing the contributions of veterans at the April 28 event.
Jefferson County Sheriff Dave Stanko enjoyed passing out candy to parade-goers April 28 during the Brinnon Loyalty Day Parade. Considered one of the shortest parades in Jefferson County, it runs from the Brinnon Booster Club, around five or six blocks, to Johnstone Realty, where honors are presented to a number of people. Commissioners Kate Dean and David Sullivan were on hand as was Jefferson County Clerk Ruth Gordon, who passed out chocolates, including her traditional Baby Ruth bars.
Jefferson County librarian Meredith Wagner congratulates Ryin Boling, 8, who correctly guessed the number of books checked out by Brinnon students. His guess was 821 books, and the correct number was 850. It’s tradition for the winner of the contest to ride in the county bookmobile during Loyalty Day.
