Extreme low tidal currents are causing cancellations of sailings from Port Townsend and Coupeville in July.
Washington State Ferries will be operating on alternate schedules on that route until further notice and additional cancellations have been made due to the tides on the mornings of July 13 through July 16.
At low tides, some loading ramps for ferries on alternate routes may also have a steep slope that causes difficulties for trucks, RVs with low clearings, and vehicles towing a trailer. People driving these vehicles should wait for a ferry when the tide is higher for safe clearance and to avoid damage to their vehicle.
Ferry passengers should note that the active schedule may also change daily depending on crew availability. To check alerts go to wsdot.com/ferries/schedule/Bulletin.aspx.
