Looking Back - a favorite column

Besides the obits, I always check out the ‘Looking Back’ picture and column each week in the Leader. I’m especially pleased when I read or see photos of people I know and places I’m familiar with. The 60 Years ago (1957) story on the three guys landing a big fish caught my eye because I have a copy of that photo and it’s one of my favorites.  I’ve posted it here and if you want to see the “three boys” today, go to my personal blog---The Swamp Road.  http://theswamproad.blogspot.com

60 Years Ago (1957)

Bill Arey, Paul Marriott and Robbie Strain are pictured with a 121-pound halibut that Arey, 16, hooked on a hand line. The three boys beached the halibut after nearly an hour of fighting off the Shell Oil dock. Arey was fishing with whole perch as bait and 30-pound test line.
