Local schools evacuated, closed after email threat

Posted

Chimacum schools were evacuated just before 12:20 p.m. Wednesday after the school district received a threatening email.

Several schools were emptied, and all students were reported outside of the buildings and were safe, according to East Jefferson Fire Rescue.

Schools are closing because of the threat.

Officials said the email threat was sent to school districts across Washington.

Local authorities are asking that parents to not come to schools to pick up their children.

The Chimacum School District is asking parents to meet their children at the bus.

An automated message has been distributed via phone to the parents of students.

Chimacum School District, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, East Jefferson Fire Rescue, and the Washington State Patrol have established a unified command for the incident.
