LETTER: Trump supporters ignoring reality

Posted

In response to previous letters to The Leader: The Trump supporters’ comments reflect a willful ignorance to the reality that inclusiveness, diversity and an immigration policy that welcomes others has always made us a stronger and more vibrant country. It also reflects an ignorance of the Trump administration’s irresponsibility when it comes to protecting our environment and its failure to take the science of climate change seriously.

The Republicans also seem to have little interest in making health care accessible to all or protecting the most vulnerable Americans. They pay lip service to helping the poor and working class, but their policies don’t reflect that. There is also the possibility that Trump’s campaign colluded with a foreign adversary to swing the 2016 presidential election.

Trump himself has not exhibited a moral or ethical compass and continues to pathologically lie. He is a bully and a braggart; a person who is unfit to lead our country or make sound decisions.

Given all this, I don’t know how any reasonable person could support this man or his administration. That leads one to suspect that Trump’s supporters are possibly suffering from some form of mass delusion – an incubation point and vector for fascism.
